PAPER & WOOD > Embossed Stones

The shores of the Hardangerfjord are strewn with stones of all sizes and shapes. I picked them up on my daily walks along the beaches and brought them back to my studio to admire and touch. To truly capture their dimension and texture, I embossed them onto small squares of paper with my fingers, then covered them with granular watercolors that settled within the embossed edges. I did this work at Kunstnarhuset Messen International AiR in Ålvik, Norway in the fall of 2019 and attached them to wood panels later in my home studio.
