Fjord Studies
The inspiration for this work was the magnificent 111-mile long Hardangerfjord in Western Norway, where I enjoyed a residency at Kunstnarhuset Messen International AiR in Ålvik in the fall of 2019. The sheer length and depth of the fjord, and the many colors it took on in a day, fascinated me. In each of these pieces I captured a view you can see in a single glance from one place along the fjord. In this way, I tried to present a fresh approach to seeing a huge body of water.
